Words of a Fether

I am the way, the truth, and the life;
no one comes to the Father except through me. ~Jesus

Why Truth Matters

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. (NASB) John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (NIV)
Throughout history many have called the Bible a collection of stories or allegories that tell us “who, not how”, but now this is coming from professing Christians! They no longer believe God when he says he made the earth in six days (Genesis 1, Exodus 20:11), or that there was a literal Adam and Eve, or that death came through sin (Romans 5), or that there was a literal Jesus who literally lived, died, and rose again physically (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 1 John 4:2). And without a Savior, there is no salvation.

So we have “Christians” who are calling God/Jesus and the Biblical writers all liars. They have joined with the Enemy in mocking the One who is “THE TRUTH” because in their minds, truth does not exist, only perceptions. They are not among those who “stand firm” (Ephesians 6:11) but instead are like a school of jellyfish, drifting with the currents:

Ephesians 4:11-18 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; (NASB)

Yet, as I’ve said before, these same people with so little regard for truth and being so unwilling to take a stand, will suddenly grow a backbone if you challenge them on whether or not they can call themselves Christians. They turn from jellyfish to piranhas when you say Truth exists and that they cannot be Christians without it.

But you can’t reason with these people, for reason itself is a foreign concept to them. To reason is to form judgments by a process of logic, but they reject the very ideas of reason and judgment and logic-- unless you tell them they’re lost. Like the current hypocritical notion of “tolerance”, the “true for you but not for me” idea is against Truth, reason, and God. They can call themselves whatever they want, but we’ll see what God calls them on judgment day-- which will come whether they believe in it or not.
